The Sharkus Electrus goes to Nationals!
After winning first place at the Western Regional Conference last spring, CSULB’s Chem-E Car, The Sharkus Electrus, secured a place at Nationals. In November 2025, the team competed at the AIChE National Chem E Car Competition in Boston, earning 2nd place internationally and 1st in the nation, stopping just 7 cm from the 19.54 m target. From long hours in the lab to the final run on competition day, the Sharkus Electrus team demonstrated precision, perseverance, and true teamwork every step of the way.

2025 Western Student Regional Conference
This past spring, Cal State Long Beach’s AIChE Student Chapter proudly hosted the 2025 Western Student Regional Conference for the Chem-E-Car Competition. Teams from across the Western Region showcased their creativity, technical skill, and passion for innovation in Chemical Engineering. CSULB’s own Sharkus Electrus earned first place in both the car performance and poster competitions, securing a spot at Nationals. The conference highlighted the exceptional talent and dedication of these chemical engineering students.
